Pues son mis primeros mensajes por aqui y tenia el mismo problema, como lo comentaste, tienes que renombrar tu archivo htaccess.txt a .htaccess
Y solo agregas el codigo DirectoryIndex portal.php en la parte superior del archivo!!!
